Is a Vehicle Wrap right for your business?

Surviving in a competitive industry requires a customer base– customers have to know who you are in order to purchase your services. The process of getting noticed can be tricky– who is your target market? Where should you advertise? How much should your advertising budget be?

For businesses whose services involve driving, the answer to these questions is a no-brainer. Advertise with your work vehicle, and everyone you see on your route is now a potential customer.

Getting started

The only thing you need to get started is a vehicle.

If you have an existing logo and branding, great! That puts you one step closer to completion. But if you don’t, it’s no problem at all– our expert graphic design team will work with you one-on-one to put together a concept.

Once we’ve worked with you to create a design that you love, it’s time to schedule a date for installation.

Our install team is certified in vehicle wrapping and have studied the art of wrapping with the nice folks at Avery-Dennison, who manufacture the wrap vinyl that will soon serve as a mobile advertisement for your business!

Understanding what you want

There are a few different types of vehicle graphics available, and they’re suited for different budgets and industries.

Full Wrap

A full wrap is possibly the best way of getting a vehicle noticed. It naturally draws the eye, whether the car is in traffic or parked in front of your business.

Partial Wrap

We often provide partial wraps for our local police officers’ patrol cars. This style of wrap is perfect for identifying a vehicle and providing basic contact information.

The amount of graphics you want on the vehicle is up to you. Keep it simple if your brand is minimal and understated, or get crazy with it!

The small business owner whose work vehicles are kept at their home know that some townships and neighborhoods don’t allow commercial vehicles parked in residential areas.

So how can you advertise your business, get noticed, and still park your vehicle at your home?

Magnets are perfect if your car is a work vehicle during the day and a personal vehicle after hours. Stick the magnet on there to identify your company when it’s needed, and remove it when it isn’t.

Magnets are easily removable, which is convenient for switching back and forth between work and personal use.

This also means they’re not recommended for 24/7 use. Wind resistance plus the buildup of dirt and dust that’s inevitable when driving mean that a magnet’s grip might be weakened over time, causing it to fall off.

Magnets also don’t work for cars with fiberglass or aluminum bodies! Be sure you know what your car’s made of before making the decision to go with a magnet.

How it’s made

A custom wrap deserves a custom design process. We’ll take measurements of the vehicle and formulate graphics to fit perfectly on the available space.

Many other companies that offer vehicle wrapping outsource production. Signs PDQ creates everything in-house on our large-format printer. We know that our graphics meet our standards because we create them! Rest assured that the most durable vinyl on the market is being used for your project.

Time for a change

A full vehicle wrap may seem like a big commitment to your company’s current branding, but it doesn’t have to be. Just as easily as we apply graphics, we’re able to remove them.

Whether you got a new logo or just changed your business’s phone number, we can easily replace your graphics. The vinyl material we use for wraps is specially formulated to stick when it’s wanted and peel off when it’s not.

A Mini Police Car: Precision Design, Printing and Application of Vehicle Graphics

When we get an order to do custom vehicle graphics or lettering, we always need to know about the vehicle to which they will be applied. This makes a lot of sense, if you think about it. Vehicle graphics that fit a Mini Cooper, or a Fiat will not work out quite right on a Suburban, or a Tahoe.

Like we always say, “No job is too big or too small”!

As you may already know, we’ve been very fortunate to be asked to do vehicle graphics for police cars belonging to a number of police stations. In case you forgot that we do police vehicle graphics, it’s ok. We’ve got a few photos at the bottom of this post!

Recently though, one of our friends at the Willoughby Police Department asked us to do a special police car. We’ve done K-9 unit vehicles and all sorts of vehicle graphics for our local police departments, so we thought they probably had in mind some slight variation of what they usually need from us. Nope, they needed something entirely different.

A Mini Police Vehicle! Yes, mini police vehicle graphics. We’ve done lots of full sized cars, but we haven’t actually made mini vehicle graphics before, so we knew this would be fun. Now this had to be identical to the police vehicle graphics we’ve done in the past. The car was a gift for a retiring Willoughby City Official and it was important that he have an exact replica of a vehicle from his very own police department.

How did we do it? We designed them tiny from scratch, printed them out and applied them very carefully. Sounds easy, right? Well, yes and no. We do full size vehicles, so this was very different for us. We had to be as detail oriented as always and be sure not to overlook anything. We just knew that if we missed something the folks at the police department would notice and then the retirement gift might not be as much fun for the honored recipient.

We would be remiss not to mention Laura and Cory, from our Signs PDQ team. These two took this project on with gusto and did a great job in no time flat. Tiny little graphics on tiny little cars is not part of  their usual workload.

And of course, another big thank you to our Willoughby Police Department and to ALL of the police departments out there. Even the departments for which we haven’t done vehicle graphics! The truth is, we are grateful for our police officers and we appreciate the job they do every single day. Protecting and serving our communities is not always easy work, in fact it can be dangerous and probably even frightening. Without our men and women in BLUE, we’d all be lost.

Signs PDQ Vehicle Graphics and Lettering

Considering Vehicle Graphics and Lettering?

Since Signs PDQ offers vehicle lettering and vehicle graphics, we get a lot of great questions about these products and services. Today we’re sharing one of our favorite questions.

Question: I have a compact car. Will you guys please add my business name, logo, phone number, web address, email and a list of my most popular services on the driver’s side door?

Answer: We can do this for you, but we strongly advise against putting this much information on the driver’s side door of your vehicle.

When it comes to vehicle graphics, less is more. Unless a person is standing beside your car, he or she  will probably not be able to read a full paragraph of text on the door of your compact car.

The back of the vehicle is the best place to have your vehicle graphics and lettering. It makes plenty of sense if you think about it. When you imagine driving down the road in your car and you picture the road from your view, what do you see? The backs of other cars, of course!

The BACK of your vehicle is seen by everyone behind you!

Instead of having too much information on your vehicle, depending on your business name, logo and function, we might suggest that you add vehicle graphics and lettering showing your Business Name, Logo and Phone Number OR website address only. We recommend keeping your vehicle lettering simple. You’re buying vehicle graphics and/or lettering to advertise your business. If no one can read the information on your car door due to the fact that they are looking at a wall of tiny text and graphics- you’re not going to achieve your goal to increase awareness of your brand.

When you buy vehicle graphics and lettering from Signs PDQ, we want to meet and exceed your signage needs. If you’re adding a message to your vehicle, you want it to be attractive, easy to read and made with high quality and durable materials. You want your vehicle lettering to get attention and bring you more business, we want to help you make that happen!

Vehicle Graphics and Impressions?

Every business that advertises online knows that an impression (in the context of online advertising) is when an ad is fetched from its source, and is countable. The number of impressions your ad gets in online advertising campaign affects how quickly you spend your advertising budget online. Right?

What if you could pay ONE PRICE, ONE TIME for your ad, yet get thousands of impressions per day, for 3-5 years? Vehicle Graphics and Vehicle Lettering allow you to do exactly that.

Do you need another way to get your business noticed? Would you like thousands of people to see your business information every single day? Do you want your business to be seen as notable and trustworthy? Do you want people to know see “social proof” that your company is serving customers?

Check out these facts about using vehicle graphics and vehicle lettering to advertise your business:

#1 Leasing your company fleet vehicles? No problem.

Vehicle lettering and graphics can be removed without damaging the vehicle.

Vehicle Graphics by Signs PDQ#2 Any type of vehicle can have graphics or lettering applied.

Signs PDQ can apply graphics or lettering to Cars, Trucks, Vans, Boats (?), ATVs, Buses, and RVs!

#3 Vehicle Graphics give you some of the best Return on Investment (ROI) figures possible.

Vehicle Graphics and Lettering vary in price. Let’s just use a price tag of $500.00, for the sake of having a number to start. However,
please understand that your vehicle advertisement could cost more, or less.

Using a price of $500.00 to add graphics or lettering to a business vehicle, how much are you really paying over 3 years (A wrap often lasts longer though!) per impression?

A few years ago preliminary testing using the TAB (Traffic Audit Bureau) measurement system indicated that individual vehicle advertising generates between 30,000 – 70,000 daily vehicular impressions. Obviously, the number of impressions your vehicle ad gets will depend on the graphics and lettering appeal, the amount of time your vehicle is on the road, the population of the area where you drive.

For the sake of this exercise, let’s go with the $500.00 dollar Vehicle Graphics or Lettering and let’s use the low end of the numbers from the TAB study.

#4 Advertising on TV? Or do you wish you could?

Catch A Critter Logo

Catch A Critter Logo – Printed and ready to be applied!

A Cox Communications/Eagle Research study shows that 48% of people viewed vehicle wraps as the most unique advertising medium available and that vehicle wraps and television ads were viewed as the two most memorable mediums.

With a television ad, you have to pay to have it filmed, edited and produced. Then you have to pay for the time slot when you want to show your commercial. This can add up to a very high price, just ask the Super Bowl advertisers.

Once you have paid for your commercial production and you have purchased your time slot, you have to hope that people are watching their TV at the moment that your one minute commercial airs. If they leave the room to refill their drink, you’ve just lost that part of your audience. You had ONE minute and now … that minute has passed.

With vehicle graphics or lettering are being seen any time your vehicle is on the road, or parked in a visible location. Your business name and identity, your website address, your phone number and what you offer can be in front of thousands of potential customers every single day.

#5 Vehicle Graphics and Social Proof

Social proof, or social influence, is a psychological phenomenon where people assume the actions of others in an attempt to reflect correct behavior for a given situation. What does this mean to your business?

Seeing your business vehicle on the road is “proof” that your company is doing business. Your vehicle graphics and lettering traveling down the road is proof that your company is a trusted operator in your field.

Your vehicle is a necessity to your business. You’re already using it to make money, why not use your vehicle to advertise, as well as transport your goods and/or services.

Vehicle Lettering and Custom Vehicle Graphics

Recently, we added a great post regarding a recent project that we did with Crystal Bloom Weddings on our blog over at the website.

That post shows you how you can turn your vehicle into a moving billboard with vehicle graphics or vehicle wraps by Signs PDQ.  Your vehicles are on the road, in parking lots and in traffic. You’ve got the vehicle, why not let the vehicle do a little more work for your business. Each person that sees your custom wrapped vehicle potentially gives you either, another shot at a potential client or brand exposure.

We think of using vehicle graphics a little something like this… When you have an attractive and informative graphic on your business vehicle, it’s similar to being at a huge business conference 24 hours a day and having every conference go-er that you pass constantly see: your name, contact details and your message.  Let everyone know what your company does.  Awareness is the first step in making a sale. If they don’t know what you’re selling, they can’t buy it. Make everyone that sees your vehicle aware of your products or services using vehicle graphics from Signs PDQ.

No job is too big or too small for Signs PDQ. We’d love to hear from you if you have one vehicle that needs a custom graphic or if you have a nationwide fleet of vehicles that need custom vehicle graphics or wraps.

Speaking of the possibilities of vehicle graphics for large fleets … did we mention that we are WBE and SBE certified? Check us out through the Ohio DAS. You’ll be glad you did and … we’ll be glad to bid on your sign project.
